Wood family collection, 1877-1960.

Summary: Collection consists of the Owen L. Wood section, the Laura Wood section, and a miscellaneous section. The Owen L. Wood section consists of a very extensive body of correspondence (boxes 1-23; primarily with students and former students from the Allison-James School in Santa Fe), National Guard material, college notes and material, and miscellaneous tax/financial and organization memberships material. Among his papers, were also a set of Spanish-American War letters written by a soldier to his mother in Ohio (however, there is not apparent relation to the Wood Family). The Laura Wood section contains her correspondence with family and friends, greeting cards, Ottawa University (KS) material, material pertaining to organizations in which she maintained memberships, newspaper clippings of Santa Fe social events, and a collection of comic sheets. This section also contains her diaries and one scrapbook. The miscellaneous section contains certificates and other material of their father James A. Wood, issues of the Police Gazette, and a poster of "Chariot Race" (1894, adapted from Lew Wallace's Ben Hur).
